Blended mobility: Sustainable community

The GoGreen - Skopje team dedicated the blended mobility to educating the users about what it takes to create a sustainable community. To achieve this, each day of the week was devoted to a specific eco topic and after the topic was discussed, the users proceeded to create paper models of the neighborhood.

The mobility started on Monday the 22nd of March and ended on Friday the 26th. First, the participants got the chance to practice their English skills and introduce themselves. Afterwards, the Go Green team introduced the agenda for the following week and explained the importance of teaching the users these topics.

Day 1: Air pollution & the building of the house model

During the first day the participants were presented with the definition, causes and effects of air pollution. This topic caused a discussion about how the modes of transport contribute to the pollution of air. Then, as the users were building models of houses, they were also learning about the importance of house insulation and facade in order to conserve the heat in winter and the cold in summer, thus being energy efficient.

Day 2: Energy efficiency & the building of the school model

On the second day, the focus was on energy efficiency. The users learned the difference between energy saving and energy efficiency and the benefits of being energy efficient. Then, the users had the chance to build a model of a school building.

Day 3: Energy sources & creating wind turbines/solar panels

The third’s day agenda included learning about all the possible energy sources and the reason why people should strive for renewable energy sources. The users had a chance to choose between building wind turbines or solar panels to add to the energy efficient neighborhood model.

Day 4: Sustainable transportation & decoration of the model - energy efficient neighborhood

The fourth day was dedicated to learning more about sustainable transportation: its benefits and some examples of sustainable transportation. The users also shared their preferred mode of transportation and the experiences they have had transporting through their cities.

Day 5: Waste & decoration of the model - energy efficient neighborhood

On the final day of the 2nd blended mobility, we discussed the definition of waste, how waste is sorted, what the recycling process entails, what gets recycled and what not, as well as the benefits of recycling. The users used the last day to decorate and finish their models of energy efficient neighbourhoods. Then, they presented their models, shared what they learned during the past week and their impressions about the mobility.
